Croatian language

As with most places, there are variations of Croatian spoken across the country making learning the language a bit difficult. Most locals speak at least one foreign language, German and Italian being two of the more popular. We've got our language guides and our charming personalities to help us communicate but there will likely be some funny miscommunication(s) along the way.

To help you get a feel for the language, here's a short crash course in what are probably words and phrases we'll be using often (ha!):

dobar dan-- hello/good day
bog!-- hi/bye?
kako ste?-- how are you
dobro jutro/vecer-- good morning/evening
hvala (lijepo)-- thank you (very much)
gdje si?-- whassup?
Ja sam iz Amerike-- I am from the US
govorite li engleski?-- Do you speak English?
Ja gorvorm engliski-- I speak English
nazdravje!-- cheers
Odjebi!-- Piss off!
Super si-- You're great!
On je privlacan-- He's hot!
O boze!-- Oh my god!
Gdje je zahod?-- Where's the toilet?
Maknite se!-- Go away!
Volim te-- I love you.
